For many of these students who have been at our school since Kindergarten, their 8th Grade Recognition Ceremony marked the end of the continuous time they have spent with their same teacher and many of their same classmates.
In a Waldorf school, the ideal is that the 1st Grade teacher stays with the same group of children until the 8th grade. Teaching a student for multiple years allows teachers to better understand each student’s learning style, to work with families to help support students, and to challenge them to do their best work. This multi-year student-teacher relationship helps each student to unfold their unique potential. The bonds and friendships that develop amongst the students are very special and many remain best friends for life.
